Young pulsating Ghanaian female Dancehall artiste, Priscilla Opoku Kwarteng better known as Ebony, has voiced her opinion about the ongoing “alleged battle of supremacy in the female Dancehall fraternity.

Ebony who burst onto the music scene not long ago with her single ‘Dance floor’ in an interview with Ike Frimpong on Sky Fm, elaborated that such claims are unavoidable as anyone can confidently call herself “queen” and distanced herself from all of it, she said;

“I don’t want to get involved with the beef. I just want to stay back, relax and watch what’s going on (Lol). I honestly don’t see why there should be any fight over who’s the Dancehall queen or who’s not because no one has yet been crowned the Ghanaian Dancehall queen.

It’s relative, I could call myself a queen or whatever I want. If I am a Dancehall artist and I feel I do so good and actually rule over the Genre, I can call myself a queen because I think I’m reigning Dancehall music on the female side or i can even call myself a king If i feel am doing better than the male artists. So if either of them thinks they are reigning or ruling over Dancehall in Ghana, they can decide to call themselves queens. I can’t wait to see who wins though.”

Compared to some of the best female dancehall artiste in Jamaica like spice and lady saw, Ebony rather than declaring victory by either side, the emcee went on to show her love for both but tipped Kaakie as her most favorite Dancehall act at the moment.

“I’m not going to crown either of them, I think they are amazing artists but I have always been a fan of Kaakie. I’m not naming her queen but she’s my favorite female Dancehall act and I’m looking forward to working with her very soon.” she stated.

Ebony, whose name according to her was coined by herself and her manager because of her complexion also detailed her plans of collaborating with one of the male Dancehall artist on her debut Album she’s currently working on. She said;

“I like all the male Dancehall artists and I’m looking forward to working with any of them on a song. I don’t know who it is yet, it will depend on the song which is ready at the moment for me to choose whom to put on.

I already have a song with my manager who happens to be Bullet, one half of Ruff n Smooth and we’re working on my album and still deciding which singles to release next. The album will feature lots of male artists, and as always you’re not going to be disappointed. It will be great, just keep your fingers crossed.”

The budding singer was unashamed about letting her “oranges” loose as he stated wearing a bra made her a bit uncomfortable sometimes but wears it when necessary. “It’s not something I usually wear, i find it somewhat uncomfortable so i prefer to let it loose because I don’t want to feel clinched up but I wear it when I feel like or when necessary,” she added.

Ebony was nominated for unsung artiste of the year at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA). She has two amazing singles “Kupe” and “Dancefloor” to her credit. She named “Kupe as her most favorite because it’s relative and talks about situations many ladies encounter in relationships.
