Jay-Z’s Roc Nation in talks with Sarkodie over a possible record deal
Michael Owusu Addo, commonly referred to as Sarkodie who is undoubtedly the biggest artist to emerge from Ghana might be broadening his tentacles by bagging a juicy record deal from Jay Z’s Roc Nation LLC.
These revelations were made by Jay Z’s Cousin and Director of Mobile Strategies of Roc Nation Briant ‘Bee-High’ Biggs, during an interview with US-based Celebrity Reporter/Blogger Makho Ndlovu and revealed he has already begun talks with the Ghanaian Rap “God”.
He has been assigned to discover new talents around the world for Roc Nation to work with. Sarkodie will be the second artists from West Africa to sign a deal with them after Nigeria’s Tiwa Savage who signed a distribution deal with them a month ago making her the first Africa act to join the company.
“We are going country by country. I’m already talking to Sarkodie in Ghana to do something with him,” he said.
“I got something in Gambia, Gabon and Senegal. We have it all spread out. Even in South Africa I am grabbing one artist out of there.”
Biggs also talked about the decision to collaborate with African acts.
“To give them proper distribution in the States and make sure that they are getting proper publishing dollars and royalties. So by using our platform that we already built, we are giving them access to everything we have at our office to help them do the same. Build their brands and their companies like we did ours,” he added.
Some of the biggest artists such as DJ Khaled, Kanye West, Rihanna, Vic Mensa, Willow Smith, Meek Mill, Shakira, T.I, Big Sean, Angie Martinez and J. Cole are signed to Roc Nation LLC.
