Kofi Kinaata Looks Forward to A Better Year In Music.
A new afro wave has popped up and more Ghanaian Hip life artistes are breaking through the barrier and blending the style with their music. One of such artistes is Kofi Kinaata.
The Song writer and Best new artiste of the year at the 2016 VGMAs, had an impressive run in the music industry the last year. He was one the many musicians who had the most hit songs in the year.
In an interview with Ike Frimpong on Sky FM in sunyani, the artiste asserted that 2016 was a pretty fulfilling year for him as a breakthrough artiste.
‘’Last year wasn’t bad. Last year was cool. I had most awards so I would say last year was really good and we’re hoping for this year to be far better than last year. For all that I achieved, I would say it was hard work and favor.”
Kofi Kinaata was one Ghana’s emerging hip-hop talents few years ago, one whom many expected would extend his good fortune further into a great rap career. His songs currently are rather unveiling another side of his talent, which isn’t rap.
The artiste hammered on the fact that he does what would appeal to his target audience, thus he wouldn’t box himself to representing a particular genre. He said;
“I wouldn’t say music is my career but it’s my hobby, I love doing music and anything connected to music, so me singing is nothing, it’s like having fun. Rapping and singing are all branches of music so I’m just having fun and taking and adventure in music.”
On his newest hit, confession, Kofi revealed also that, the songs basically speaks about something you’ve done that you’re not proud of, something that’s not cool. And that was something he had been observing.
With most of his songs being engineered by KIndee, Kofi Kinaata explained that it was because of their cordial working relationship.
“Working with kindee is kind of cool. He’s been my friend for a long time and I think it’s fun working with him.”
